Hi. He has a Dell Inspiron 530s. This computer is smaller than mines. He bought NVIDIA 2-GeForce 7200GS 256mb video card. When he tries to put it in it does not fit for some reason. Is he putting it wrong or he doesn't know where it goes. Or it doesnt fit? can you please help.|||To find out how to install the graphics card use you tube. Why it wont fit is probably the bus type as in PCI or PCI-E. The difference is a little tab at the end of the card that locks it in. I would be willing to be that that card wont fit because is is not current enough to be compatible with the expansion slots in his cpu.|||It depends on what you mean by "it won't fit." Does that mean the card is too big and other parts of the PC are physically blocking it from being installed? Or does it mean that it won't go into the slot the old card came out of?
Keep in mind that most brand new video cards use PCIe (PCI express) card slots, while anything older than about 2 - 3 years might still use AGP or even regular PCI. These are NOT interchangeable slots and you don't want to try forcing the card in place.
If it's a situation where there isn't room, see if you can reposition anything like cables or wires, or maybe if there is an alternate location for the hard drive. Otherwise, you can buy a new case and transfer over the existing hardware. You can easily get cheap cases at any local computer store for around $50.
