I am planning on spending anywhere between $100-$400 for a video card. Which one is the best. I am also going to probably buy from nvidia.|||for that price range maybe a 9800gx2. you could spend an extra 200 and get yourself the most powerful, bleedingest edge card there is, the GTX 280. it should around 500-650 depending on where you buy it. newegg has it for about $530.|||Since you have posted under Laptops & Notebooks I’m assuming you are talking about upgrading a notebook computer ??
If that is the case then you can’t do that. Most notebook graphics adaptors are integrated in to the motherboard. There are few exceptions, but even among those, a majority have proprietary cards; meaning you can only upgrade if there is a better card available for that specific notebook computer ( for example if you decide to buy a notebook with a slower dedicated card while you had the option to order a better card, then you can later upgrade to that better card. But as I said before there are only very few models like this). There is however a standardized notebook plug-in interface for graphics cards called MXM, where you can use a compatible MXM card to upgrade, but this type of notebooks are almost impossible to find.|||First make sure you know how you are going to be connecting your new video card. If your motherboard is over a year old more then likely you will not have the PCIx16 2.0 expansion slots. Which means you can't have the new GeForce GTX 200 series cards.
If you are not sure what expansion slots you have check your PC providers website and look up the specs. It should tell you what expansion slots you have. If you built your own then you probably already know.
GeForce 8800's are a great choice. They are mainstream so you should be able to pick them up at most stores.
Radeon HD 3870 are also a good choice. You should also be able to find these relatively easy.
You wont notice a great deal of difference between the 8800's and 9800's. The 9800's benchmark slightly higher then the 8800's, but not enough to justify spending the extra money.|||For consumer grade:
Well... if you're in laptops and notebooks... then the NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX
For Desktops it's the GeForce 9800GTX.
As for the Radeon guy: The Radeons haven't caught the 9800. They FINALLY caught the 8800. Guess you don't pay attention often enough.
The NVIDIA Quadro line is also very powerful.
The best video card currently made is the NVIDIA Tesla card. Of course.... it costs more than your computer and your car... but it's still the best.
Radeons being better than the 9800 series. Good lord, what a guy.|||Well there are two types of Video cards that are pretty popular, which are ATI and Geo Force. In my opinion, Geo Force is the best Graphics card, but that is my opinion. Just type in a Search for Geo Force and get the highest bid for the best/Cheap one you can get. Other then that my friend has this Graphics card called 'Sapphire' I don't know what it is, but it is pretty kick butt. Check into that one as well!|||The best video card right now is the ASUS EN9800GX2. It is the fastest single card on the market right now. duo core with 1GB graphics. Check it out before you listen to everyone that has no idea what the said.

Top end 9800GX2, GTX280 (end of august HD 4870 X2) > 400 dollars.
if you got an SLI Mobo: Dual 9800GTX, Dual 8800GT beats one GTX 280 and still under your budget :P Except the SLI mobo cost bit more.|||Keep in mind there are power requirements, and the GTX 200 series and the 9800 GX2 are really just two cards in SLI on a single slot, and therefore require much more power than normal. You might not have the power pins necessary to fuel it.|||Go to nVidia and look up their latest video card. I might be mistaken but I think its the GTX 280. That's your most powerful card. 8800 GTX, I think is the highest capability card with 3way SLI., but 9600 GT is just as good and $100 less.|||For that price range you have a lot of good options and it kind of depends on what kind of things you'll be doing with it. Here's a thread with lots of reviews though. Hope this helps.

Although they will be coming out with the ATI R700 with 2gbs of gddr5 memory.|||I'm not sure of the price, but nVidia GeForce 9800s are great. Look at these 9 series cards now: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce9.ht…|||video cards and other stuff from EVGA are the best, and also they have life time warranty for their products
XFX will just give you a 1 year warranty|||Probably the gx2, since it is more stable than the 280gtx|||its only and only
(NVIDIA GEforce 8800)
