Computer Malfunction due to video card?

Well I took out my video card to clean up the dust and see why the fan wasn't working. Well i blew out all the dust and put it back in the computer slot, and when the computer was starting back up, the whole screen was at like 450x450 and the screen was all cut up and fuzzy. It's irritating and I tried to find out if my video card was installed, and it was. What's the problem because, I really need to get to the saved documents I had on that computer really soon.|||Did you get rid of your static electricity when you touched your card? Static can damage the card so it is always best to discharge yourself. Beware of doing work on a rug or carpet that can build up static charge. You can also buy one of those wrist bands that can be attached to a grounding source.

It can also be that something was damaged during clean up. I once had a problem with my video card not rendering some 3D objects well and after inspecting it, i found that one of the soldering points was broken.

Another thing that may have happened is check that all your pins are okay in the connectors. Often people damage the pins by handling them carelessly.

Lastly,if your computer seems to be recognizing the card, then just try going to the manufacturer website and installing a new driver for it.

Good luck. Let us know if you find the solution.|||This some times has happened with me too. Static charge is the reason to this.

power off your machine. disconnect your power plug from the back of the computer. wait for 10 seconds(time for capacitor discharge) . open the case and disconnect the graphics card and see wether the contacts in the slot are clean. just blow some air over the slot just in case. and then put the graphics card back and wait for some time . and then plug things back and power on.

hope you found this helpful.|||Computer's fine, your documents are safe.

However, if you've already tried reseating the video card a few times. It's possible you damaged it and will have to replace it.

You could have static shocked it, if the card was hot and you blew compressed air on it the cold shock could have cracked circuits. Just hard to say over the computer.
