I am evaluating the OS Vista 5744, and get message saying my video card might not be compatable .I am using a Mercury TV Tuner ,but don't know which video card ,& don't know how to find that out.
Any advice would most appreciated
Anne|||dont confuse a TV tuner card (wich lets input a tv signal 2 ur comp) with a video card (also known as a graphics card, a graphics processing unit, or simply GPU) wich performs the calculations that go into displaying the picture on ur monitor. if ur video card is very old (more than 2 years) then it might not b powerful enough 2 b able 2 run vista with all the visual effect its going 2 hav. take the comp 2 a computer store, tell the guys there u need 2 upgrade the graphics card, if u can afford it tell them 2 u want the Nvidia 7800 GTX or a newer edition. if ur motherboard doesnt support a newer graphics card with pci express then its probably time 2 upgrade the mobo too... and while ur at it get urself a dual core 64 bit processor and add some memory-at least until its 1GB, preferably 2GB, and with all that ur machine will run vista, gauranteed.
:P|||Check in the device manager
right clik my comp-> porperties-> hardware->click on Display
if you have anything onboard please check
Or else only if you want to know what type of graphic adapter you have
check system properties
Buy the best one i.e
GE force 4

As every operating system from microsoft there are several hardware compatibility issues with Windows Vista. You would have noticed that with every Hardware they say Win 98/2000/2003/XP compatible (or something like that). So I think we may have to wait a little more, till they come out with a stable version. The beta version of Vista has too many vurnerabilities (As I have persoanly tested it for more than 2 months).
But if it is the question of hardware compatibility only I can tell you that it will be compatible with all hardware that Microsoft has approved like GeForce, Pibnnacle, Dazzle etc.
